Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is similar to a Swedish Massage with deeper pressure which is designed and strategically incorporated to manipulate the muscles and the connective tissues below the surface. The slower deeper pressure can release tension to the deeper layers of tissues aiding in range of motion, decreasing inflammation, improving circulation, and can aid in relief of muscle pain.
Along with deep tissue, a technique called muscle stripping that can be incorporated into the massage. Muscle Stripping involves deep tissue manual therapy to clear out the adhesions (scar tissue) formed in muscle fiber during physical activity or inactivity. The technique is more effective than a basic deep tissue massage as it elongates the muscles and removes the “knots”. For athletic patients, muscle stripping works to accelerate recovery, prevent injuries, as well as increase flexibility, strength, and functional mobility.

A manual deep pressure is applied continuously to the muscles with the aim of lessening tension and relieving pain by releasing trigger points within the bands of the muscles.
